Photos and videos are stored at a slightly reduced quality. We renamed our High quality storage tier to Storage saver. While we’ve updated the name, your photos and videos will continue to be stored at the same quality. Photos and videos backed up in Storage saver quality count toward your Google Account storage.
Do you lose video quality with email?
Most e-mail and text applications that allow the transfer of these files will compress them, without much concern for quality loss. A compressed video file will be shrunk to a lower definition and will likely have “artifacts”: those glitchy patches of color that freeze while the rest of the video plays.
Does Gmail reduce quality?
Sending files via Gmail does not degrade its quality.
Does email lose picture quality?
If you email a photo from your phone or computer, it won’t be compressed, either. Some email clients automatically adapt files for the Internet. To avoid this, just uncheck the appropriate box before transferring. Then you can send photos in their original size and quality.
